Man and Witch The Movie
Bound for Berlin
Paper Canoe Company is bound for the European Film Market in Berlin this week. It was a pretty last minute decision, but we decided that the only way we would really understand what was happening on the ground in the European ecosystem was to see it for ourselves.
There's a lot to say on the state of indie film generally, and the landscape of Hollywood movies as well, but we'll save most of that for another time. Suffice it to say that some of what we're learning about indie producing, sales, and marketing is largely what we expected, and some of what we're learning is pretty surprising.
The theatrical market is in really banged up shape after the pandemic, so big Hollywood players are reticent to take a chance on an indie creation. Meaning that we have work to do, my friends. And work we shall, to bring you the film in theaters.
For now, we are still waiting to figure out how that can happen, and perhaps we will unlock that mystery in Berlin, or perhaps not. Only time will tell.
In the meantime, we have cut a teaser for Man & Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps!
Keep an eye out for it here on the website in the next couple of weeks.
